 Dearest reader,

Today I started choosing the blocks of music I would use in my commercial. I struggled with this part because I couldn't get Apple Music to deliver audio to HitFilm Express. There were so many errors in the process. I figured out that this would be an issue in my trial run of adding music. This happened before I even chose which chunks of music to play. I later came to the realization that Apple Music does not export audio files to other apps. Even in a screen recording, the music mutes to ensure that copyright laws are being followed. 

After the kerfuffle, I decided I should figure out first what parts of the music to use. It was fairly easy to choose a block of "Best of My Love" By The Emotions. I struggled more with choosing the music from "Oogum Boogum Song" By Brenton Wood. 

Once I had selected the music itself, I went onto Youtube and started trying to accommodate my issue with the audio. Upon further research I found that it is illegal to use Apple Music without a license on HitFilm Express. I figured that this might happen since in my past Apple Music has had blockers on both IMovie and InShot. Getting around this blockade was looking difficult but I was given advice during my research to download the clips off of YouTube. On Youtube, I can download the videos to my computer. After the videos have been downloaded, I can then extract the audio from them using a website.

Overall, this process was very frusturating for me. I am fairly new to editing and I went into this whole process with high expectations. I unfortunately made the mistake of believing that since I had a clear vision in my head, I would be able to extract that onto film. The reality was much more dissapointing. Please see below a picture of how I felt trying to understand my computer (and once again struggling).

That’s A Wrap (Filming Production Blog)

 Dearest reader, Today was the second day of filming. Since today was not a  school day, we started filming earlier. Due to the fact that we are meeting at Alexandra's house, l woke up at 8:30. I live out west, about 40 minutes from the school. Alexandra lives out east about 20 minutes from the school.  Last night when I got home from filming and finished all my homework, I went straight to bed. This meant that on top of my usual morning routine, I had to shower. I hopped in the shower as soon as I woke up and got my day going. After eating breakfast, I did my hair and got in my costume. Almost late, I ran out the door to head to Alexandra’s house. When I arrived, we were waiting on one teammate. Something family related came up and there was a delay. Timelines and Transitions (Editing Production Blog)

 Dearest reader, Today, we continued editing our short film. We met via FaceTime once all members were home from school. There was a bit of back and forth between which editing platform to use. I made a case for ClipChamp mentioning the ability to use many tools for free. I found ClipChamp to be a saving grace on my last project.  Ultimately, the group settled on CapCut. I had made it abundantly clear to my group that my editing skills are subpar. While I made sure to enthusiastically emphasize my willingness to edit the footage should they want me to, I can not promise much skill for the group. It was agreed that the editing work would be split fairly evenly amongst members.
