Genre Decision

 Dearest reader,

Below is our genre decision!

 After some tough decisions with my group, we have finally decided on making our pitch a thriller movie! We all had great ideas on which direction we could take our final task in but I think we made the best decision. At first, we wanted to do a romance genre, but there were some complications. Mainly we would need a love interest and this genre does require a lot of emotionally packed acting. The essence of a romance film lies in the intricacies of relationships, the emotional rollercoaster, and the chemistry between characters. However, with a limited timeframe of two minutes, capturing the depth required for a compelling love story seemed daunting. Also, it could possibly come off as corny since we are all high schoolers acting.  Then we looked into comedy which was our close second choice. All of us love watching comedy movies so we focused on this genre. Effective comedy often relies on context, buildup, and timing elements that demand more time than our project allowed. We feared that without a proper foundation, the humor might fall flat or seem forced.

    Then we found thriller movies and we realized this was our genre. Thrillers easily captivate people with their eerie ambiance so we know this is definitely achievable in two minutes. This genre has so much room for us to express our creativity and really create an uncanny piece. We could use props in this film if it was a thriller genre because they always bring the film to the next level and allow the film to become more suspenseful and dramatic. Including common features for this genre is imperative, so we could low-angle shots, tracking shots, point-of-view shots, diegetic sounds, and more. By choosing to pursue thriller as our genre, we feel confident in utilizing the genre's advantages to craft a story that is both mysterious but also coherent. This decision enables us to concentrate on building an immersive and intense experience for our audience, avoiding the potential complications that could have arisen with romance or comedy within the constraints of our project. Though arriving at this decision was tough, we're thrilled about the path we've selected.  With a definite vision ahead, we're excited to start this cinematic journey together, aiming to make a lasting impact!

That’s A Wrap (Filming Production Blog)

 Dearest reader, Today was the second day of filming. Since today was not a  school day, we started filming earlier. Due to the fact that we are meeting at Alexandra's house, l woke up at 8:30. I live out west, about 40 minutes from the school. Alexandra lives out east about 20 minutes from the school.  Last night when I got home from filming and finished all my homework, I went straight to bed. This meant that on top of my usual morning routine, I had to shower. I hopped in the shower as soon as I woke up and got my day going. After eating breakfast, I did my hair and got in my costume. Almost late, I ran out the door to head to Alexandra’s house. When I arrived, we were waiting on one teammate. Something family related came up and there was a delay. Timelines and Transitions (Editing Production Blog)

 Dearest reader, Today, we continued editing our short film. We met via FaceTime once all members were home from school. There was a bit of back and forth between which editing platform to use. I made a case for ClipChamp mentioning the ability to use many tools for free. I found ClipChamp to be a saving grace on my last project.  Ultimately, the group settled on CapCut. I had made it abundantly clear to my group that my editing skills are subpar. While I made sure to enthusiastically emphasize my willingness to edit the footage should they want me to, I can not promise much skill for the group. It was agreed that the editing work would be split fairly evenly amongst members. First, we needed to import the clips off of the drive and onto CapCut.  Finding the cropped clips I had worked on yesterday was easy for my teammates.
